Our Kinfolk Saturdays film series is all about giving you lots of ideas for things to do on weekends, inspiring you to try new things and making the most of those precious days off.
This week is all about getting out there and picking your own berries (or fruit, vegetables, flowers, etc.!). We made a list of ideas of places to go here: kinfolk.com/kinfolk-saturdays-picking-berries
This series and book should be an initial educational requirement upon entering
science class inschool. It would serve as a proprietary crash course as a segue into biology, chemistry, physics, history, philosophy, religion, pseudoscience, critical thinking, anatomy, physiology, genetics, neuroscience, paleontology, zoology/biodiversity, marine biology, ecology, planetary stewardship, politics, anthropology, evolution by natural selection aka life science, geoscience/geology, planetary science, astronomy/astrophysics, cosmology, particle physics/quantum mechanics and how to wear the hell out of a turtle neck…
Christiansreligious groups would have nothing to gripe about, because their children would be brought up to speed on a cosmic time scale with an unbiased view of the cosmos and present day understanding of the world, covering all of the primitive ideologies and ideas about the world…and how we surpassed them the moment we started asking questions and studied these mysterious heavens with a finely tuned instrument, which remains continually fine-tuned and evolving through the present day.
Hey 2014, do you want to hang out sometime? I have an idea for a White House petition I’d like to start, considering the revised Cosmos series will be debuting this year. Interested? Call me.
When we reach a point where people think for themselves with reason and common sense rather than believing what they are force fed in school, that will be an achievement!
I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.
Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something.
So that’s my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before. Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.
Whatever it is you’re scared of doing, Do it.
Make your mistakes, next year and forever.

Steve Ballmer, 2007:
Right now we’re selling millions and millions and millions of phones a year. Apple is selling zero phones a year.
Steve Ballmer, a few months later:
It’s sort of a funny question. Would I trade 96% of the market for 4% of the market? (Laughter.) I want to have…
